This one’s just for Ian. If you were as obsessed with a very simple, if versatile, toy when you were a kid, read on.

Training early in the day is supposed to be good for athletes that are “in shape.” I imagine that for some (read: most) people, the thought of running around so early may not be that appealing. And although I do think of myself as a “morning” person, running at 6:45 am does seem to be [...]

A college friend has started up a website that seems to have a lot of potential, particularly if it provides a venue for non-mainstream sports to get some decent coverage. There have to be some decent amateur writers out there who are passionate about the sports they play or watch who’ll want to voice opinions. [...]

This year, at my brother’s request, our family is giving up the tradition of over-gifting, and instead will donate all the money we would normally spend on gifts for each other to a charity/charities. This’ll definitely make Christmas morning less hectic chez les Fischers, and I think we’ll all appreciate cutting back on the excesses. [...]

I like to take pictures. I really liked to take pictures back when my telephoto lens wasn’t somehow filled with sand from Hawaii and actually functioned. My small digital camera is also somewhat beaten up, as the cover won’t really “cover” the lens anymore. *Sigh.* All this to say, check out some of Ian’s dad’s [...]

One of the Mephisto boys, and a good friend, is travelling around Australia right now. He has some pretty cool pics up, and worth a look. Makes you want to visit for sure.

It was a packed sports weekend. First we saw the Habs thrash the Thrashers on Sat night. Good game, Huet played great (if Souray hadn’t scored on his own net, Huet would have had a shut-out) and the Atlanta goalie had some really nice saves too. Plus they honoured Serge Savard by retiring #18 to [...]

see the cool sidebar widget which I can use to keep track of what I am reading, have read, and plan to read? Yeah, thanks to fiance-fish for hooking me up.
In other news, some good friends are playing at the Ultimate World Championships in Perth, Australia this week. Check out Dan’s blog, or the tournament [...]

Here’s a nice write-up about my brother and the great Step UP work he does. He and fiance-fish went to the hockey game last night (habs vs oilers). There’s nothing better than a 2-2 tie through regulation when one person is rooting for the home team, and one is rooting for the visitors. Too bad [...]

I just finished Freddy & Fredericka by Mark Helprin. I quite enjoyed it. It was one of those, I-am-near-a-bookstore-so-I-will-buy-random-book, books. I hadn’t heard anything about it, but the blurb made it seem good, and it was somewhat hefty. I’m into heft. Takes longer to get through. It’s witty, fun, and the characters are quite amusing. [...]
