RETVRN, LLC, doing business as Pixel Parables (“Pixel Parables,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), is committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your children. This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) describes how Pixel Parables collects, uses, and shares personal information in connection with our services.

Pixel Parables provides an online subscription service offering Christian-themed interactive books, images, audio, video, and tools for Account Owners (as defined below) to generate customized content using pre-determined inputs (collectively, the “Content,” which includes both our provided materials and Account Owner-generated Custom Content). This Content is accessible via the pixelparables.com website (the “Pixel Parables Site”), and potentially through affiliated or distribution partner websites or applications (collectively, with the Pixel Parables Site, the “Sites”). Our service, including the Content, our content generation tools, our website, user interfaces, and any other features, tools, applications, materials, or other services offered by Pixel Parables are referred to collectively as the “Pixel Parables Services.” We are a company based in the United States.

By visiting the Pixel Parables Site, registering an account, or using any of the Pixel Parables Services, you, as the Account Owner, agree to the collection and use of your personal information as set forth in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Pixel Parables Services or access the Pixel Parables Site.

Important Notice for Parents and Guardians (Account Owners):

The Pixel Parables Services are intended for use by adults who are parents or legal guardians (“Account Owners”) to select, generate, review, and then share Content with their children, particularly those aged 1-4 years. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13 without Verifiable Parental Consent, except as permitted by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”). This Privacy Policy is designed to comply with COPPA. It is the Account Owner’s responsibility to supervise any use of the Pixel Parables Services by their child(ren) and to review all Content, including Custom Content generated by the Account Owner, for suitability before presenting it to their child(ren).

1. What Does This Privacy Policy Cover?

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected when Account Owners use the Pixel Parables Services. The Pixel Parables Services are controlled and operated by us from the United States and are not intended to subject us to the laws or jurisdiction of any state, country, or territory other than that of the United States.

The Pixel Parables Services may link to or integrate with internet websites or services operated by other companies (e.g., for payment processing like Stripe, or for Account Owner authentication via third-party social media platforms like Google or Facebook, if elected by the Account Owner). Pixel Parables is not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites or services. Once you leave the Pixel Parables Site or interact with a third-party service, you should review the applicable third party’s privacy policy.

2. What Information Do We Collect?

We collect information from and about Account Owners. We strive to collect no personal information from children under 13, as the service is designed for parent-directed use.

A. Information Collected from Account Owners:

  • Registration and Account Information: We collect information you provide when you register for an Account Owner account, such as your name, email address, password, and payment information (processed by Stripe). This information is used for account creation, communication, and account setup purposes.
  • Custom Content Generation Inputs: When Account Owners use our tools to generate Custom Content, we collect the inputs they provide (e.g., names, characteristics, story preferences). This information is used solely to generate the requested Content and is associated with the Account Owner’s account for their access and use. We do not use these inputs to directly identify children.
  • Communications: If you contact us for support or other inquiries, we will collect your name, email address, and the content of your communication, including any other information you may choose to provide.
  • Usage Information: We collect information about how Account Owners interact with the Pixel Parables Services, such as the Content accessed, features used, and time spent on the platform. This helps us improve our services and understand user preferences.

B. Information Collected Automatically (Primarily from Account Owners, and from Children Only When Under Direct Supervision of an Account Owner for Internal Operations Purposes):

  • Log Data: Our servers automatically record certain information (“Log Data”) created by your use of the Services. Log Data may include information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, location, your mobile carrier, device information (including device and application IDs), search terms, and cookie information. We use Log Data to provide, understand, and improve our Services, and to infer and customize content and features based on your preferences.
  • Device Information: We collect information about the device you use to access the Pixel Parables Services, including hardware model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information if applicable.
  • Location Information: We may infer your general location (e.g., city/state or zip code) based on your IP address. We may use this information to customize content, analyze usage, or comply with geographic restrictions.
  • Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies: We use cookies and similar technologies (e.g., web beacons, pixels) to collect information about your interaction with our Services, remember your preferences, and support the security and functionality of our Services. Please see Section 6 (“Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies”) for more details. This data is primarily collected from Account Owners. Any data collected from a child’s device during supervised use is used only for internal operations (e.g., to ensure the service functions correctly) and not for tracking or profiling children.

C. Information from Third-Party Services:

  • Payment Processors: As mentioned, we use Stripe for payment processing. When you make a purchase, Stripe collects your payment information directly. We receive transaction details from Stripe for record-keeping and account management, but not your full payment card information.
  • Social Login Services: If you use a third-party service like Google or Facebook to log in to your Pixel Parables Account Owner account, we may receive information from that service (e.g., your name, email) as authorized by you.
  • AI Service Providers: Our Custom Content generation tools utilize third-party AI service providers. When you generate Custom Content, the inputs you provide are sent to these providers to produce the output. These providers are contractually obligated to use the data solely for the purpose of providing the AI service to us and are prohibited from using it for their own purposes or to train their models, except as may be incidentally necessary for providing the service (e.g., temporary caching for performance). The data sent may include the text prompts or selections you make. We do not send persistent identifiers of children to these AI providers.

3. How Do We Use Your Information?

We use the information we collect from Account Owners for the following purposes:

  • To provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Pixel Parables Services.
  • To process your registration and manage your Account Owner account, including processing subscriptions and payments through Stripe.
  • To enable you to generate, access, and manage Custom Content, and to enforce any usage limits.
  • To communicate with you, respond to your inquiries, provide customer support, and send you service-related messages.
  • To send you marketing communications (such as newsletters about new features or special offers), where permitted by law and your preferences. You can opt-out of these at any time.
  • To personalize your experience as an Account Owner (e.g., by showing you relevant Content).
  • For research and analytical purposes, to understand how our Services are used and to improve them. Any data used for such purposes involving children’s usage patterns will be aggregated and anonymized.
  • To ensure security, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms of Service and other legal terms and policies.
  • To comply with legal obligations and legal process and to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, and/or that of our affiliates, you, or other third parties.

4. How Do We Share Your Information?

We do not rent or sell Account Owner personal information. We may share Account Owner information in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as website hosting, data analysis, information technology and related infrastructure provision, customer service, email delivery, auditing, AI content generation (as described above), and payment processing (Stripe). These service providers are given access to your information only as is reasonably necessary to provide the services under contractual obligations to protect your information.
    • Payment Processing: Stripe processes your payment information.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (i) comply with a legal obligation, (ii) protect and defend our rights or property, (iii) act in urgent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of the Pixel Parables Services or the public, or (iv) protect against legal liability.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or other similar event, your information may be part of the transferred assets. We will notify you of any such deal and outline your choices in that event.
  • With Your Consent: We may share your information with third parties when we have your explicit consent to do so.

We require our third-party service providers to agree to take reasonable measures to protect the confidentiality and security of personal information, and to process it only for the purposes for which it is disclosed and in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

5. Children’s Privacy (Our Commitment to COPPA)

Pixel Parables is committed to protecting the privacy of children. The Pixel Parables Services are designed for Account Owners (parents or legal guardians) to use with their children, particularly those aged 1-4.

  • No Direct Collection from Children Under 13 (Except as Permitted by COPPA): We do not knowingly collect personal information as defined by COPPA directly from children under the age of 13, other than persistent identifiers collected for the sole purpose of providing support for the internal operations of the service, as permitted by COPPA. The Account Owner is responsible for any inputs provided for Custom Content generation.
  • Account Owner Control: Account Owners are responsible for selecting and generating Content, including Custom Content, and sharing it with their children. We encourage Account Owners to review all Content before sharing it.
  • Verifiable Parental Consent (VPC): If we were ever to collect personal information from a child under 13 beyond what is permitted by COPPA for internal operations (which is not our current practice or intent), we would first obtain Verifiable Parental Consent from the child’s parent or legal guardian.
  • Parental Rights: As an Account Owner, you have the right to review any personal information we may have inadvertently collected from your child (though our aim is to collect none directly). You can request that we delete this information and refuse to allow any further collection or use of your child’s information. To exercise these rights, please contact us at [email protected]. We will require you to verify your identity as the parent or legal guardian.
  • Data Use for Internal Operations: Any information collected automatically from a device being used by a child under the supervision of an Account Owner (such as IP address or device identifiers for functionality) is used solely for internal operational purposes, such as providing the service, maintaining or analyzing its functioning, ensuring network communications, authenticating users, personalizing content (for the Account Owner), protecting the security or integrity of the user or the service, or to ensure legal or regulatory compliance. This data is not used for behavioral advertising or to create a profile of the child.

6. Cookies and Similar Tracking Technologies

We use cookies (small text files placed on your device) and similar technologies such as web beacons or pixels.

  • Types of Cookies: We use session cookies (which expire when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which stay on your device until they expire or you delete them). We use these for purposes such as keeping you logged in, remembering your preferences, understanding how you use our service (as an Account Owner), and for security purposes.
  • Third-Party Cookies: Our service providers (like Stripe for payments or Google Analytics for understanding Account Owner usage) may also place cookies on your device. This Privacy Policy does not cover third-party cookies.
  • Your Choices: Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject browser cookies. Please note that if you choose to remove or reject cookies, this could affect the availability and functionality of our Services. For example, you may not be able to stay logged in.
  • Analytics: We may use third-party analytics services (like Google Analytics) to help us understand how Account Owners use the Pixel Parables Services. These services use cookies and similar technologies to collect and analyze information about service usage and report on activities and trends. This information is used to improve our services. Any analytics related to children’s interaction with content is done on an aggregated and anonymized basis under the supervision of the Account Owner.

7. Data Security

We have established and maintain a written information security program that includes administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Account Owner personal information. We take reasonable measures to protect your information from loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no internet or e-mail transmission is ever fully secure or error-free. In particular, e-mail sent to or from us may not be secure. Therefore, you should take special care in deciding what information you send to us via e-mail or disclose via the Internet.

8. Data Retention

We have established and maintain a written data retention policy. We retain Account Owner personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Pixel Parables Services, and for a reasonable period thereafter as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain business records, and enforce our agreements. Custom Content inputs and generated Content are retained as long as the Account Owner’s account is active to allow for continued access, unless the Account Owner deletes them or requests deletion. Anonymized and aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes. We will delete information related to children if an Account Owner requests it or if it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected (e.g., for internal operations where applicable).

9. Your Choices and Rights (Account Owners)

  • Access and Update: You can review and update your Account Owner information by logging into your account settings.
  • Marketing Communications: You can opt-out of receiving promotional emails from us by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in those emails or by contacting us. You may still receive transactional or administrative messages, such as those about your account or our ongoing business relations.
  • Cookies: As noted above, you can typically remove or reject cookies via your browser settings.
  • Account Deletion: You may request to delete your Account Owner account by contacting us at [email protected]. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal information in accordance with our data retention policy, subject to legal or operational retention needs.
  • Data Portability: Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to request a copy of your personal information in a machine-readable format.
  • Parental Rights: As described in Section 5, Account Owners have rights regarding any personal information pertaining to their children.

10. International Data Transfers

If you are accessing the Services from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States where our servers are located and our central database is operated. The data protection and other laws of the United States might not be as comprehensive as those in your country. By using the Pixel Parables Services, you consent to your information being transferred to our facilities and to the facilities of those third parties with whom we share it as described in this Privacy Policy.
